We are appreciative that the Metro custodian in the above video took the time to assist a newly minted straphanger in his introduction to a remarkably convoluted fare system. However, we are concerned that Metro must rely on custodians to help with the fare machines in the first place.
Perhaps this multi-tasking approach is another result of the budget cuts resultant of paying out $30 million—possibly much more—over the last 15 years fighting Red Line contractor Tutor-Saliba in court? If so, perhaps Metro executives need to multitask as well—preferably on the busses that they work so hard to tell the rest of us ride.

Just wait until the Turnstiles go "Live" and there is a disabled person or a parent with a child who can't get the arms to move.

Did you guys see the turnstiles last week when the TAP machines stopped working? I think it was friday morning when every single turnstile I passed said "Not initialized" and the singular TAP stations in the train stations said "out of service". It made me very concerned about what would have happened had the turnstiles not been "unlocked"....
