Angry about the new highway robbery scheme that is the greatly raised parking meter rates in L.A.? Here are two videos that will get your blood truly boiling.
While awaiting the arrival of a friend at Pershing Square Metro Station, I spied a Los Angeles meter maid's vehicle parked in the turn lane on 5th Street. It was rush hour—meaning NO PARKING on the street—and as the video clearly demonstrates, there was more than a fair amount of motor traffic. There were also vehicles attempting to turn out of the alley, but were impeded by the meter maid's poorly parked car. I filmed the vehicle for a while. Here is a nearly six-minute long clip of the unattended meter maid's car (vehicle license #1185593):
No need to watch all of it, of course, as it is long and boring. (And I have more footage of the unattended vehicle, as I were watching it for nearly 20 minutes.) It only shows loads of traffic and cars that would turn easier were it not for the ill-civil civil servant's vehicle.
Lo and behold, the meter maid finally arrive—after having been shopping up the street at Fallas Parade, on the corner of 5th and Broadway:
When asked if she has been doing a bit of shopping, the meter maid replied with an excuse about working overtime. The orange bag in her hand is also seen in the store where she obtained it:
As she departs, she does so without turning on her headlights, gliding to the right into the heavy traffic without a turn signal from the left turn lane—as well as cutting off a driving who was driving legally in the lane. I suppose with parking rates being raised from $1 an hour to $3 an hour (a 300% increase; in some places, it is going from 25¢ to $3, which is a 1200% increase), the privately run, publicly funded Parking Enforcement Bureau can afford to pay her for it! They even had a handy excuse ready for the rate increase. I wonder what excuse Jimmy Price and his schmucks will provide upon viewing this series of infractions and scoff-law behaviour?
Nice job if you can get it, hm?

Nobody likes parking enforcement but I know the intersection fairly well ...even during rush hour that left hand turn lane is rarely used. Would have been more entertaining to watch the useless Sheriff department issue a parking ticket for illegally parking.
