Straphangers: Let Folks Exit FIRST
Just as Los Angeles is experiencing a swell in its population, so, too, is Metro undergoing a surge of straphangers. Unfortunately, simple word balloons, such as the one pictured below should eschew the complexity exhibited and just state something such as, "Socks, then shoes!"
Yes, you heard correctly: The Bus Bench is on the same train as Metro with this one.
Folks, the burgeoning crowds you comprise need to know some simple rules. This is the first in what will be a short series of bus and train etiquette. It is embarrassing that the second largest "city" in the continental U.S. needs to learn how to walk, but given the following videos, well. . .
The videos are very short—just a few seconds each—but the collective perspective (feet and knees) clearly show how confusing things are as well as how easily the calamity of it all can be avoided with but a few seconds of patience and space.

Los Angeles is way ahead of San Francisco on this one. Try exiting BART at rush hour. They stand in a cluster blocking the doors making it impossible to exit the train. It's pathetic.

You know what I love. I love the a**hole sitting on the steps at 5pm when a train is coming. What is that exactly? Why are you sitting on the steps when people use them to get to the train and they are pretty narrow anyway. I always want to accidentally kick that person really hard in the head.

I did that once to a dolt sitting on the steps. I pretended not to see him. HE apologized. It was fun.

"Los Angeles is way ahead of San Francisco on this one. Try exiting BART at rush hour. They stand in a cluster blocking the doors making it impossible to exit the train. It's pathetic." It has been years since I rode BART, but if it is worse up there, perhaps it is a California thing. Maybe Metro needs pushers, like in Japan, but not for getting people off the train but out of the way first—or at least until folk learn how to not crowd the door. As more and more people get on board, Metro needs to educate folk on how to not be stupid. Sad.
