Why the Bus Bench sometimes talks about things other than the bus

In the environmental movement, I’ve noticed a lack of knowledge.

People seem to have a lack of knowledge beyond the environment. I have actually noticed this in all movements. Everyone is a specialist.

The environment, issues of class, issues of race, issues of gender and economics are all seemed to be viewed as separate issues by the specialist. Meaning they can take money from someone, but where that someone got the money doesn't seem to matter.

To me all of these actions seem to all be interrelated. It seems to be a bad idea to only discuss certain topics. It seems to be a bad idea to only know about a certain topic. It seems to be a bad idea to cash a big check, because it's big.

I’ve always had a bit of an issue with tunnel vision it’s not focus, it’s a disease. The disease is Retinitis pigmentosa or in figurative talk it is a disease called ignorance.

When you have tunnel vision things like America’s Wetlands happen.

It is an organization that seems benign enough. You look at it and it wants to save the Wetlands.

Isn’t that just precious?

As you look closer you realize it's financed by Shell Oil.

Shell Oil is exploring for oil in America’s Wetland.

This is something I would like to call the Rockefelia (I like naming diseases after rich dead guys.) It’s closely related to necrophilia, but instead of wanting to have sex with dead people this individual wants to indirectly fuck you to death without your knowledge.

It seems hard, but with the right amount of cash it seems as if just about anyone (especially environmentalists) will bend over and pretend they don't feel anything.

When Rockefeller made his billions on Standard Oil do you think he felt bad? Regular people feel bad about things, but people who make billions they don't feel bad, that's how they get to be billionaires. His name is now listed on the names of grants by lots of environmental type people.

People often think foundations by rich people are about guilt, but it’s not about guilt. People like John Hofmeister the president of Shell do not care that they are killing you. George Bush doesn't feel guilty. Rupert Murdoch doesn’t sit up at night wondering about Fox News.

This is about paying off people before they can say anything unpleasant. Before anyone can say,
“Hey what you are doing is leading to the death of thousands of people.”

Of course no one calls it killing. Global warming isn’t exactly murder, but it kind of is.

Why does the US have harsher laws for individuals than it does for corporations?

Many organizations need money, so they take it where they can get it. The problem is when you take money or things from people like Shell to fund projects like America’s Wetland you are doing your organization a disservice.

When you are being a shill for Shell by using your degree to help run America’s Wetlands you’re doing human beings a disservice.

If someone is handing you large amounts of money and going to all of the other similar groups in town giving large amounts of money something fishy is going on. All you have to do is think. It’s obvious.
You can’t just close your eyes and hope that it will go away. It won’t.

Yet for some reason when the truth is staring people in the face they feel too guilty to tell the truth.
"They funded our after school program. It would be wrong to say anything."

No it wouldn't be wrong. If your partner gave you a STD is it wrong to be pissed about it?

As long as people keep taking the money and being silent, places that want to murder with their ETDs (economic transmitted diseases) will continue to have foundations, fund nonprofits, not because they feel a duty, but because they want to continue to be allowed to kill us for profit.

If you’re the kind of sadist that likes to be beaten for cash, I know people who will pay for that kind of thing. And the people I know are tested regularly for ETDs.

People always think that it's tobacco or big oil that are the bad guys. Bad guys aren't in certain industries. They can come wrapped all kinds of ways.

If you think about it what's the real difference between  a superhero and a villain? Intent, that's the only difference.

Look at the Annenburg Annenberg Foundation. Walter Annenberg was a piece of work, he used his paper to destroy lots of people and to help lots of jerks, yet I don’t know anyone who hasn’t gotten a bit of his money. His money funds all kinds of things and no one except one guy said anything bad about him ever.

Yes these organizations do a lot of good wrappings with their programs and foundations, but look at all the crappy things they did.

Would the world be a better place without their money, without all their “good” deeds?

I’m going to say yes.

I don’t want anymore people who have caught Retinitis pigmentosa from fooling around with a person with Rockefelia trying to help better the world. I think that kind of help makes you predisposed for consumption which looks cool in books and while it keeps your weight down you’re still going to have a pretty unpleasant death.

Dirty money doesn’t help anyone in the long term.
